About this event

This workgroup, consisting of 5 sessions, focuses on developing the pedagogy of NQT and recently qualified teachers.

Due to the disruption of the academic year last year and this year, the Maths Hub really wants to support new Maths teachers in becoming the most outstanding teachers.

The sessions will consider what outstanding maths teaching looks like, short-term planning, assessment for learning, medium-term planning, and long-term planning.

An understanding of Teaching for Mastery will also be a common thread throughout all of the sessions. The sessions will give participants an opportunity to come together with teachers of a similar experience so that they can work together, develop resources and strategies that they can implement into the classroom (or their online lessons!).

All sessions are Tuesdays, 3.45 - 5.15pm (online):

  • 9 February
  • 2nd March
  • 30 March
  • 27 April
  • 11 May

* 1 or more members of NQT/RQT teaching staff from each participating school are invited to register for this group and are required to attend all sessions and complete gap tasks and evaluations.

Although this Work Group is online, it is offered to State-funded schools in the North-East Hants and Surrey Maths Hub Region.

Please Note: It is now a DfE requirement to provide your TRN when registering for this work group - if you need to locate this, please go to : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/individual-teacher-records-information-for-teachers

All registrants will be required to join an NCETM Basecamp online community for this Work Group in order to access resources and information. Please ensure you tick the box to confirm this when you register.

Once registered, we will be in touch with details of how to access the first online session via Zoom.
